What about me?

Mar 5, 2008

WARNING: Besides the little information about the author of this site that you might gain, whether you're interested even in that or not, there's little else to find here except my yawn-inducing experiences which I intend on sharing with relatives and family.

Now let's get the facts rolling. My name's Ulrich Holtzhausen, I live in Cape Town South Africa with my father and brother and am the youngest of four (18), doing Business Studies at college after which I intend to further my studying field to Social Dynamics and a Math degree. We've moved about quite a bit during my lifetime and I've lived in South America for a total of four years and due to that I am tri-lingual, speaking Afrikaans, English and Spanish, however I don't speak the latter too well anymore.

I have a very broad interest field (sciences, social psychology, politics, computers and practically anything technical just to name a few) and I enjoy reading quite a lot as I believe you can never know too much. Designing sites, blogging and a little bit of programming (specifically PHP and Python) are my hobbies while I also enjoy partying with friends and girls practically every weekend.

My flavour of music...

This is a topic of which I can have endless conversations. I believe that any type of music can be nice, such as Jazz, Metal, Rock, Reggae, Dub, Classic and so forth but not necessarily all of it. I particularly dislike hip-hop and rap. Most if not all genres of music have something to offer. Some songs might have great lyrics and others great background music (tip: try listening to the finer details of songs) whilst others might have a mixture of both. There's really a vast load of music out there...

On the other hand there are also a big load of crap out there. Then there's also the fact that me and you most likely interpret musicso much differently like Prometheus and Bob are two completely different names. I'm not going to go to the details of specific artists or bands right here, but a given example: do thorough research about Kylie Minogue and her history, then listen really carefully to her songs. It's clear that on all of them she's tripping balls, or at least was at the time of writing them and it's even noticeable in some of her music videos. In one of her biggest hits, "Chocolate", she tells us about the enhanced senses a person experiences when under the influence of Lysergic acid... Fact is, if you didn't do research about this you wouldn't have known and as a result would have interpreted it differently. This is merely one example.

Keep in mind

This section will be updated from time-to-time and I plan on adding some image gallery where I'll host some photos and perhaps even poems if I get to writing some of those someday.
